You don't need to get it. If you don't want to.

Optional: This is just for those people that have to have everything. In my case I'll wait till it comes down in price. If there are any left.

Depends if you like to have a book of Guild Wars art, like the game's music a lot, need a microphone, and want to be glowy . Since I'm not a big art person, and I have a microphone, it wasn't worth it to me. But maybe it's right for you?

I'm also just getting the normal version. I think it's cool to be 'glowy' but can't see spending $30 more for it, since I already have headphones. The book would be cool to have, but for me it'd be something that I'd look through once or twice... so I figured I'll save the $30 and put it towards the next chapter.

To quote guildwars.com:

* Exclusive In-game Item, the ???Divine Aura???

Only an elite few gain the attention and favor of the gods, but those who do receive a celestial gift???a Divine Aura, a glowing visible token of their god???s blessing. When players purchase the Collector???s Edition of Guild Wars, each of their characters will receive this unique in-game item. Characters who equip the item are surrounded by a unique aura determined by the god who has bestowed it, and the item itself has a shape and color distinctive to that specific god. Once blessed by the gods, Divine Aura stays with a character; it cannot be traded or given to others.

Different places are charging different amounts for each, so for some places the difference in price is minimal. I pre-ordered the Deluxe version simply because the small price difference will barely be noticed, and not only will it make me feel like I'm getting the full GW experience, I will be. Ok, maybe I just like to think I'm special and I just get suckered into these things...but still. It's a small price to pay to be immersed even deeper into an already great game.

The thing that drew me to the Collector's Edition wasn't really most of the "bonuses", as say the headset and aura or nifty packaging.

If you are like me; an extremely engrossed artistry type....then the price is irrelevant. It would definitely be worth it. Between the artwork I can and do accomplish and what I collect, this type of thing is just another excuse to gaiun ideas on delving into the creation of some game related work of my own.
The music isn't a bad bonus either. I tend to have a fancy for orchestrations.

I guess the only thing it actually does is to make you look like a prime target in PvP

My guess would be that it'll boost, to some degree, the Primary Attribute for your Profession. +1 to the stat would seem reasonable, but then again it could also make it so that, if people with Divine Aura are finding Superior Runes for +3 to the stat, you could theoretically have people out there with Attribute levels of 16, which would be kind of insane if you ask me. But who knows? I'm insanely tired right now, and I'm not exactly sure what I'm talking about.

At this time? Divine aura will give you a really pretty glow about your character. Nobody has stated it will do anything more than that. So that would not be good enough reason to want it.

Look at the Deluxe this way,.....1. do you NEED the stuff in the offer?
2. do you WANT any of the stuff in the offer?
3. Does any of the stuff hit your interests?

If you can answer yes to everything in the deluxe version, for all three questions, then yes (assuming you can pay out the heftier fee...some of the younger ones may have permissions to ask too) there is good reasoning for you to get it. If you can't then either you shouldn't get it or you should think about it first before deciding.

I myself think the bonus stuff (especially the art book) is reason enough to get the Collector's Edition if you can afford it. But then again, that's just me. If you don't find it attractive no one's going to make you order it. Besides, I've never pre-ordered the special edition of any game, so I decided to splurge on Guild Wars this one time. Can you blame me?

As I said in the other topic, main reason I purchased it was because EBGames said it came with a cloth map, which I thought would be sweet to hang on the wall. But even though it's not coming out with one, I'm still getting it.

1) I already have a headset, but my buddy said he'll buy it off me for $20 (2/3 cost of difference between normal and collectors)
2) I like interesting things like the art book and the audio.
3) I wanna glow
4) I'm a sucker for these kinds of things. Why go normal when you can go DELUXE!
